Ghee Rice Recipe

Nasi Minyak is often associated with celebrations such as weddings or car parties in the Malay community. It is believed to be influenced by cuisines from both India and the Middle East, this dish is actually quite easy to prepare using just a regular rice cooker. For the best rice oil use high quality basmati rice and also good quality ghee. Both of these ingredients play a very important role in this cuisine.

Ingredients

8 pot ( rice cooker measure 180ml) basmati rice
3 tablespoon of beef
2 cinnamon stick
8 cardamom seeds
8 cloves
1 flower buds
3 red onions sliced
4 cloves of garlic sliced
2 inches of sliced ​​ginger
8 strands of pandan leaves
2 cups (500ml) evaporated milk
4 teaspoons of salt
1 tablespoons of yellow dye is added after the rice is cooked

Method

1. Size 8 measuring cup of rice cooker. Wash the rice with water until clear and soak for 20 minutes. Drain and set aside first.
2. Heat 3 tablespoons of Ghee. When the oil is hot, add the onions, garlic and ginger.
3. Saute for 1-2 minutes and add the cloves, cardamom, cinnamon and star anise. When the onions start to look crispy, enter duan pandan.
4. Add 2 cups (500ml) water and 2 cups (500ml) evaporated milk.
5. Add 4 teaspoons of salt. Stir to let the salt dissolve. Pour the sauteed ingredients into the rice that has just been washed. Mix well.
6. Add water to the level mark 10 rice cooker. Close the rice cooker and press the cook button.
7. When the rice is cooked, pour the yellow dye and cover the pot for 5 minutes so that the color can permeate. For a tastier flavor you can use saffron that has been mixed with water.
8. After 5 minutes, open the lid of the rice cooker and mix the rice with oil, so that the color of rice oil is more attractive.
9. Nasi minyak is ready to be served with your favorite side dishes such as briyani chicken or red chicken.
