Banana Fritters

Banana fritters are a very easy snack to prepare with just a few basic ingredients. Also known as cucur pisang or cekodok pisang, depending on where we are. Although the name may be different but the taste is still delicious.

To make a good banana fritters, the ingredients needs to be chosen correctly. Bananas must be ripe bananas and not fresh bananas because fresh bananas are still hard and difficult to mash. The sugar content in freshly ripe bananas is also quite low and still starchy.

Avoid using bananas that are too ripe until they are black because the sugar content is too high and easily scorched when fried.

Ingredients

800g very ripe bananas
135g (1/2 cups) Wheat flour
60g ( 4 tablespoons ) gula
Some oil for frying
A pinch of salt

Method

  1. Pinch the bananas before peeling to soften the bananas prior to mashing.
  2. Peel the bananas and put in a suitable container.
  3. Roughly mash the bananas and add sugar.
  4. Mash the bananas until the sugar dissolves, the mixture of banana and sugar becomes a very light mixture. Make sure the banana is not over mashed., and there are still small chunks of bananas.
  5. Add flour and mix. Spoon the flour on the edges to the middle. Our goal is just to make flour, sugar and banana combine only.
  6. If you overmix, too much gluten will be formed and this will make our pickles tough.
  7. Set aside the batter for 5-10 minutes so that the flour can absorb the water and the dough becomes more chewy before frying.
  8. Heat the oil in a pan, make sure there is at least one 1.5 cm of oil.
  9. One tip if you want to pick up more delicious bananas, sprinkle a pinch of salt into the oil.
  10. When the oil is hot, add a tablespoon of the pick-me-up batter. Use a spoon to measure the dough so that each piece is approximately the same size.
  11. Avoid frying too much, This will decrease the temperature of the cooking oil and cause the shuttle to absorb a very large amount of oil.
  12. We recommend that you fry over a simple fire, because if the oil temperature is too high, pickles are easily burnt due to their high sugar content.
  13. Use a fork to flip each pickle so that it cooks evenly. Stir in the pan.
  14. When the pick-up is brown , can already be removed from the pan.
  15. One tip for getting less greasy invitations is, tilt the pan a little like this , and press the pickup on the edge of the pan.
  16. Set aside for a few minutes before eating as the filling is very hot.
